I don't have all of the final scores with me but our 10M team consisting of Edmond Lee, Stan Wills, and I took 1st place. This is the 3rd year in a row that Edmond and I have had the top team at Nationals. It definitely helped getting Stan Wills on our team this year. Our 50M team consisted of John Berta, Edmond Lee, and I. I'll see if I can get the scores all posted up later.
Gotta run.... time to board the plane!

New personal best in 50M Pistol!
I shot a 522 / 600 and a 532 / 600 in the 50M Pistol event at the 2010 Canadian Nationals. The 532 / 600 is a new personal best for me in this event. My scores were high enough to finish 3rd overall in a field of about 30.
This is an event I don't spend a lot of time training for due to the lack of nearby shooting ranges back home where I can shoot at 50 metres. The last time I shot 50M was at last year's Nationals. I will be making more of an effort to train for this event and putting some time into making a few modifications to the grip when I get back.
National Team Trials in 10M this afternoon and then Finals!

Arrived in Granby, Quebec!
Edmond Lee and I got into Montreal yesterday morning after taking a late flight out of Vancouver. *yawn* We met up with John Berta, another BC shooter, who arrived about an hour ahead of us. *yawn* I didn't get any sleep on the plane, but after the drive to Granby, getting some food, and checking into the hotel a small power nap fixed that.
This morning we went to the outdoor range to get our equipment checked and registered. After that we got in some training time on the 50M range which went really well. The weather was excellent, sunny, not too hot, a light breeze... compared to the cold and rainy day yesterday it was beautiful.
Once we finished up at the outdoor range, we headed over to the indoor range to get some 10M training time in. The indoor range feels a little dark, but it's using similar light conditions to how I train back home so I like it.
After getting some time in on both ranges we went out for some lunch and ate poutine, apparently the best in Granby according to a few reviewers. It was pretty good!
Competition Round 1 begins tomorrow morning - 50M at 9am and then 10M in the afternoon.

Flying to Montreal next week!
Final training preparations are wrapping up for my trip to the 2010 Canadian National Pistol Championships being held in Granby, Quebec next week.
I'll be shooting my new Pardini FPM in the Olympic 50M event. I decided to retire my old Pardini and picked up this one:
Being a restricted firearm, there is some extra paperwork you need to do to be able to transport it. I sent it all to the Canadian Firearms Program with the RCMP and I received my authorization a couple weeks ago. I am all set!
I fly out late Tuesday night and return on the 31st. I 'plan' to do daily updates while I'm there, but we'll see... I really don't want to be on a computer too much. I do that enough as is. ;)

Back!
Well I didn't really go anywhere, but this blog did. It had to be moved and going through that process kind of put the brakes on any updates from me.
But...
The 2010 Canadian National Pistol Championships are coming up in August near Montreal, Quebec and I will be there!
More to come!

Tied for 1st place at 2010 BC Airgun Championships
I ended up tied for 1st place at the 2010 BC Airgun Championships in Richmond, BC. The way the tie-break is done though is by counting back from the last shot to find who ended better. Out of 3 complete courses of fire (180 shots) both Edmond Lee and myself ended up at 1686/1800 points.
Congrats to my fellow Team BC teammate Edmond Lee who had a slightly better last target than me.
I'm off for a few weeks before getting ready for Provincials in Campbell River (early May) where I'll break in my new 50M pistol which should arrive in a couple of weeks. Next up after that, will probably be the 2010 Canadian National Pistol Championships being held in Granby, Quebec August 25 to 31, 2010.

Currently in 1st at the 2010 BC Airgun Championships
This weekend is the 2010 BC Airgun Championships being held in Richmond, BC. This is the same range where I train at most weeks. Today I shot a 563/600 and a 565/600, a slight improvement over my pair of 560/600's I shot at the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix in Toronto 2 weeks ago. To add some context, the Olympic minimum qualification score for 10M Pistol is 563/600.
I'm currently in 1st place with one more relay on Sunday... Stay tuned for updates!

6 points off the leader after Relay 1
I finished today with a 560/600, a little lower than my recent practice scores. Took me a little while to get settled into a groove. That's something I'll be working on more over the next few weeks going into the BC Airgun Championships next month.
My 3rd set of 10 shots though was a solid group and I got into a good flow.
I shoot again tomorrow morning, then Finals will be held in the early afternoon.

Arrived in Toronto
I left Vancouver early Friday morning and arrived in Toronto around 2:45pm local time that afternoon.
It's definitely a lot colder here than in Vancouver! Good thing I brought along my Olympic 2010 Mittens. ;)
I compete 12:30pm on Saturday and at 10:15 on Sunday and will post up details later.
